Taiwanese Americans for Harris, an official grassroots group, expressed concerns that a Donald Trump presidency could jeopardize Taiwan's security, reported Taiwan News. According to Co-Chairperson Jay Chen, President Joe Biden has shown exceptional support for Taiwan, unlike former President Trump, who has been notably dismissive.

Chen emphasized Vice President Kamala Harris's campaign was highly receptive to the concerns of Taiwanese Americans. He noted that the Democratic National Convention included unprecedented references to the 'Six Assurances' and other policies that guarantee peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait. Despite some US lawmakers pledging to support Taiwan regardless of election outcomes, Chen stressed the significant risks posed by a potential second Trump term.

Taiwan News cited Trump's July interview with Bloomberg, in which he questioned US support for Taiwan, accused it of stealing America's chip industry, and suggested Taiwan should compensate the US for defense. Chen argued that Trump's leadership could lead to the dissolution of established treaties like the Taiwan Relations Act. He described a vote for Harris as a vote for security, noting that despite Taiwanese legislators' diplomatic approach, Trump's aggressive rhetoric and actions don't necessarily align with Taiwan's best interests.
