Former IFS Officer Mahesh Sachdev on Tuesday highlighted the uniqueness of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent visits to Ukraine and Russia, citing the few governments with positive relations with both countries. In an interview with ANI, Sachdev emphasized the rarity and potential impact of Modi's diplomatic engagements.

According to Sachdev, while past peace efforts by other nations haven't succeeded, it remains to be seen if PM Modi's discussions will yield results. He noted the importance of these visits amid ongoing conflicts and the significant reception Modi received in Kyiv, which helped alleviate any previous tensions caused by his visit to Moscow.

Sachdev also stressed Modi's commitment to peace and the substantive bilateral trade relations between India and Ukraine. He pointed out the broader geopolitical implications, including discussions with US President Joe Biden about Bangladesh's stability and India's role in mitigating regional conflict.
