Four individuals lost their lives and fifteen others were injured in a suicide attack in North Waziristan's Razmak area on Monday. The assault targeted a vehicle belonging to Usman alias Liwanay, a former militant commander who has surrendered to the state. Remarkably, Liwanay came out unscathed from the explosion, which occurred at approximately 11:30 AM, Dawn News reported.

Among the victims were two individuals whose bodies were so severely mutilated that their identities remain unknown. The injured, including the two deceased, were transported to Miramshah Hospital, where an emergency was declared post-blast.

Hospital medical superintendent Dr. Hamidullah confirmed six critically injured patients were transferred to a Bannu hospital for advanced treatment. Local authorities cordoned off the area and launched an investigation into the perpetrators and motives of the attack, according to Dawn.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly member Naik Muhammad and local activist Abdul Khalil visited the injured to offer support and express solidarity. The incident has stirred significant unrest in the region. A peace rally was organized, where participants voiced frustrations and threatened to block roads to the cantonment area unless their concerns were promptly addressed, Dawn reported.

North Waziristan, a region plagued by militant activities for years, has seen numerous conflicts between the Pakistani military and various militant groups. The recent attack underscores the ongoing threat of extremism and highlights the need for enhanced security measures and effective counterterrorism strategies. (ANI)
