Sharjah Charity International Allocates AED84.3 Million for Domestic Aid in First Half of Year

Sharjah Charity International (SCI) has disbursed AED84.3 million for various aid programs within the UAE during the first half of this year. Sharjah [UAE], August 25 (ANI/WAM): The Sharjah Charity International (SCI) has allocated AED84.3 million for aid programmes within the UAE during the first half of this year. This substantial funding includes AED 6.7 million for monthly aid, AED 31.2 million for seasonal programmes, and AED 39.6 million for lump-sum aid. Additional support was extended to eligible recipients, according to a report by the Department of Excellence and Strategic Planning.

Executive Director Abdullah bin Khadim highlighted that internal aid remains a top priority for SCI, positively influencing beneficiaries by promoting happiness, stability, family cohesion, and loyalty. He detailed that the one-time aid of AED39.6 million allocated AED15 million for medical assistance, benefiting 743 patients with life-threatening conditions such as viral hepatitis, cancer, and kidney failure. The medical aid covered crucial treatments, including liver transplants, heart surgeries, and other essential procedures.

Housing aid worth AED8.3 million was given to 906 beneficiaries, addressing home restoration, maintenance, and providing essential appliances and furniture based on detailed field studies and social research reports. The aid also included settling overdue rent and covering bills for electricity and water. Additionally, AED4.8 million in educational assistance helped over 680 low-income students with tuition fees and tablets.

Bin Khadim reported that AED6.7 million in cash assistance supported orphans, widows, divorcees, and those who lost their livelihoods, with aid granted for up to six months, renewable based on family circumstances. Seasonal aid of AED31.2 million included campaigns like 'Joud,' which provided Iftar meals, Ramadan provisions, and winter clothing. The 'Feeding Food' charitable project distributed meals worth AED3.2 million to the needy and low-income workers, with several community projects totaling AED3.4 million enhancing public service quality through strategic partnerships.
