The human rights situation in Balochistan is rapidly deteriorating with a rise in enforced disappearances. The Baloch National Movement (BNM) has called for international intervention after the disappearance of Ustad Wahid Kambar, a key figure in the Baloch liberation movement.

Kambar, also known as Ustad Wahid Bakhsh, was allegedly abducted by Pakistani intelligence agencies on July 19, 2024, while he was in Iran, according to BNM spokesperson Qazi Dad Mohammad Rehan. Since the abduction, no information has surfaced about his whereabouts, Rehan stated.

Rehan condemned the abduction and highlighted Kambar's lifelong dedication to resisting Pakistani occupation and advocating for Balochistan's liberation. The BNM has demanded his immediate release and the restoration of his legal rights. They have appealed to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to recognize Kambar as a prisoner of war and publicize his case.

The BNM has also called for international support to ensure Kambar's rights are upheld under international laws concerning freedom movements and anti-colonial struggles. Kambar, a veteran leader, has previously faced extrajudicial arrest, torture, and false imprisonment by Pakistani authorities. After his release, he continued to lead efforts for Balochistan's freedom.

The BNM highlighted ongoing violence against Baloch individuals who have fled Pakistani oppression. Notable incidents include the targeted killings of Karima Baloch in Canada, journalist Sajid Hussain in Sweden, and multiple figures in Afghanistan. A BNM statement emphasized this escalating violence against Baloch leaders and refugees.

BNM reported that Pakistani intelligence forces have also attacked Baloch individuals in neighboring Iran, including a missile strike on BNM leader Dosta Baloch's home in Sham Sar, which resulted in civilian casualties.
