Former US First Lady Michelle Obama delivered a scathing critique of Republican candidate Donald Trump and strongly endorsed Kamala Harris at the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday.

Obama targeted Trump's rhetoric, accusing him of propagating 'ugly, misogynistic, and racist lies,' and attempting to instill fear in the American populace.

Highlighting Harris' qualifications and immigrant background, Obama praised her educational and professional journey, affirming, 'Kamala Harris is one of the most qualified people ever to seek the office of the presidency.'

'No one has a monopoly on what it means to be an American,' stated Obama, in reference to Trump's comments on Harris' immigrant heritage. She emphasized the shared belief in the American promise by the families of both Harris and herself.

Obama recounted Harris' educational journey at Howard University and law school, noting her rise from a middle-class background to Vice President of the United States. She declared Harris ready for the presidency, stressing her understanding of America's core values.

Michelle Obama emphasized the 'contagious power of hope,' asserting that America stands 'on the cusp of a brighter day.' She expressed that 'hope is making a comeback' in light of Harris' candidacy.

Concluding her speech, Obama reiterated that of the two major candidates, 'only Kamala Harris truly understands the unseen labor and unwavering commitment that has always made America great.' She jabbed at Trump, saying the job he seeks may ironically be one of those 'Black jobs.' The audience responded with applause.

The US presidential election on November 5 will feature Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee, following Biden's endorsement. Harris has secured substantial support within the party and enough delegates for the nomination.
