Krzysztof Iwanek, a Polish Indologist, stressed the necessity of understanding Indian languages to fully comprehend Indian politics during a discussion on Tuesday. He argued that India's vast diversity fosters humility and continuous learning.

'Knowing only English is inadequate,' Iwanek asserted. 'India's diversity is a fundamental aspect. Despite my 20 years in Indology, I constantly uncover new insights, thanks to India's linguistic variety that instills humility,' he added.

Regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Poland, Iwanek highlighted two focal points: economic and political. Politically, PM Modi aims to showcase balanced relations with both the West and Russia. Economically, discussions with Polish delegates will center on trade policies. Although Modi's visit isn't directly tied to Indology, Iwanek noted the significance of India and Poland's historic ties, recalling a World War II incident where an Indian king sheltered over 1,000 Polish women and children.

Iwanek also mentioned ongoing Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations between India and the European Union, expressing hope for productive policy discussions.

He shared his long-standing interest in Indian culture, which began in 2001 during his history studies and led him to pursue an MA in Sanskrit. 'I've always been fascinated by India. Now, I closely follow Indian politics and its international relations,' he stated. Despite the niche field of Indology, Iwanek remains optimistic about its growing interest.

To conclude, Iwanek recited the Gayatri Mantra, demonstrating his admiration for Indian culture and traditions.
