Australian High Commissioner to India, Philip Green, will spearhead a delegation of Australian agtech companies visiting India from August 20-23. The mission aims to explore partnerships and innovation opportunities with Indian counterparts, according to a statement from the Australian High Commission. Australia and India have collaborated to enhance agricultural productivity for over four decades, and the engagement is set to intensify.

Under the Australia India Business Exchange program, supported by Investment New South Wales, the delegation will travel to Delhi, Noida, Lucknow, and Bengaluru. The itinerary includes meetings with government and industry representatives and farm site visits. Participants encompass a wide range of sectors, including dairy, grains, horticulture, floriculture, and animal husbandry.

In Lucknow, the delegation plans to engage with the Uttar Pradesh government to identify strategic partnerships. The visit will culminate in Bengaluru at Agri Tech India 2024, India's premier agtech conference. This initiative underscores Australia's importance in India's agtech development and the commitment to fostering new business collaborations.

"Agriculture is a cornerstone of the Australia-India relationship, and Australia has much to offer in terms of agricultural expertise," noted High Commissioner Green. He highlighted the role of Australian agtech in improving Indian food security and productivity through advancements in technology.

High Commissioner Green emphasized shared challenges, such as climate change, that both nations face. "Although our agricultural scales differ, we confront similar challenges, notably climate change. Enhancing productivity and sustainable rural incomes are key, and Australian agtech plays a vital role in this. Collaboration can further boost India's agricultural exports," he added.
