Despite claiming he doesn't need extensive debate prep, Trump has devoted significant time this year to honing his strategies, including informal discussions with advisers and practice sessions with aides posing as moderators. This preparation mirrors the approach he took before his CNN debate with Biden in June, which ultimately contributed to Biden exiting the race.

Trump's advisors plan to maintain a similar strategy for the September 10 debate with Harris. Gabbard's participation brings unique benefits, including her experience as a woman debater who has previously confronted Harris. During their 2019 encounter, Gabbard attacked Harris' prosecutorial record, leading to heightened tensions between the two.
