India's BRICS Sherpa, Secretary (Economic Relations) Dammu Ravi, joined a significant meeting hosted by Russia on Thursday. Russia is chairing the BRICS consortium for the year 2024.
Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal announced the participation via a social media post, stating that Ravi conveyed India's views on several topics discussed within the BRICS framework.
The BRICS Foreign Ministers convened in June in Nizhny Novgorod, Russia. This assembly marked India's first major international diplomatic engagement under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's third term. The joint statement from the ministers condemned terrorism, notably the March 22 Crocus City Hall attack in Moscow, and reiterated a commitment to combating terrorism without associating it with any religion or ethnicity.
