A devastating fire erupted in a residential-commercial area in Binondo, Manila, claiming the lives of 11 individuals, as reported by the Philippines-based Daily Tribune. The incident occurred around 7:20 am (local time) at a canteen situated on the fourth floor of a building on Carvajal Street.

According to the Manila Bureau of Fire Protection, the blaze was caused by a liquified petroleum gas (LPG) leak. Firefighters managed to control the fire at 10:04 am. Kagawad Nelson Ty of Barangay 289 confirmed that 11 victims were trapped inside the building during the incident.

In response to the tragedy, Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna deployed the Manila Social Welfare and Development (MSWD) to assist the families of the victims. The MSWD is providing psycho-social, medical, and financial support to those affected, according to the Daily Tribune report.
