Nepali lawmakers have voiced strong objections to comments made by Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Chen Song, regarding the ongoing search for two missing buses swept away by a mudslide in the Trishuli River. Describing the envoy's remarks as 'inappropriate,' the leaders have called for the government to summon the ambassador for an explanation.
The tragic incident occurred on July 12, when two buses carrying 65 passengers were swept into the Trishuli River during a mudslide in Chitwan. Only three passengers managed to escape, while the search continues for the others. Complicating matters, a magnet weighing 19 kilograms, brought by Indian specialists to aid the effort, was lost to the river's current.
Chen Song sparked controversy by posting a news link on X, suggesting the search team 'find the magnet then.' His comments were met with fury from Nepali lawmakers, including former minister Abdul Khan and lawmaker Sarbendra Nath Shukla, who called the remarks offensive and inappropriate during a time of national mourning.
