Thousands of Hindu devotees flocked to Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu to observe 'Shrawan Sombar,' a significant event in the Nepali month of Shrawan dedicated to Lord Shiva. The month is considered sacred by devotees, with women adorning green, yellow, and red bangles and beads while keeping fasts.
Every Monday during Shrawan, devotees of all ages and genders visit the Shiva temple to worship. Unmarried girls fast for a suitable husband, while married women pray for their husbands' good health and family prosperity. 'I came to Pashupatinath early this morning and queued for half an hour to enter the temple. We pray for our family's well-being,' said Suhana Karki, a devotee.
The Pashupatinath Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, holds immense importance for Hindus. It is believed that Lord Shiva bestows fortune on those who visit and pay homage. The temple sees a significant influx of pilgrims, both local and international, during this period, with other Shiva temples in Kathmandu also witnessing increased attendance.
