Nita and Mukesh Ambani Meet French President Macron, Celebrate Paris 2024 Olympics

IOC member Nita Ambani and her husband Mukesh Ambani met French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris, attending the Paris 2024 Olympics opening ceremony. Nita Ambani was re-elected as an IOC member, expressing gratitude for the milestone and its significance for India’s sporting ambitions.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) member Nita Ambani and industrialist Mukesh Ambani met French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris on Saturday. Nita Ambani, chairperson of the Reliance Foundation, and Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Industries, attended the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics on Friday.

Earlier this week, Nita Ambani was re-elected as an IOC member with unanimous support at the 142nd IOC session. Expressing gratitude, she said she was 'deeply honoured to be re-elected,' noting it as a recognition of India's growing influence in global sports and Olympic vision.

'This re-election is not just a personal milestone but also a recognition of India's growing influence in the global sporting arena. I share this moment of joy and pride with every Indian and look forward to continuing our efforts to strengthen the Olympic Movement in India and around the world,' she stated. Since being appointed in 2016, Nita Ambani has championed India's sporting ambitions and recently hosted the first IOC session in Mumbai in over 40 years in October 2023.

The Paris 2024 Olympics broke tradition by holding its opening ceremony outside the stadium for the first time. Indian athletes PV Sindhu and Sharath Kamal led the Indian delegation. The ceremony featured a pre-recorded appearance by French midfielder Zinedine Zidane carrying the Olympic flame. President Emmanuel Macron and IOC President Thomas Bach were introduced at the Trocadero before the Parade of Nations. The games will run from July 26 to August 11.
