The Nepal Student Union, affiliated with the ruling Nepali Congress, hosted a candlelight vigil on Thursday evening at Tri-Chandra Multiple Campus in memory of the victims of a tragic air crash involving Saurya Airlines. This event, held within the college premises, aimed to pay tributes and express condolences.

The students also remembered the passengers of two buses swept away by a landslide in Chitwan District. Out of the 63 individuals carried into the Trishuli River on July 12, authorities have recovered about 25 bodies, although the missing buses remain undiscovered. 'We organized a commemoration ceremony today for the fatal air crash yesterday and the buses along with the passengers that have been missing for about two weeks,' said Andru Singh, a student, to ANI.

Attendees wrote 'Heartfelt Condolence' in Nepali script while holding candles and observing a minute of silence. Thursday was declared a national day of mourning, with flags flying at half-mast. The Saurya Airlines crash at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu claimed 18 lives, while one crew member survived with injuries. The plane was on a technical flight with no passengers on board.

Gyanendra Bhul, information officer at TIA, confirmed that the aircraft, identified as 9N-AME (CRJ 200), crashed shortly after taking off at 11:11 am local time. The fire was swiftly controlled, and rescue operations commenced immediately. Meanwhile, in Chitwan, the search continues for victims of the deadly landslide that swept away two buses on July 12. Thus far, only 25 of the 63 missing individuals have been found deceased.
