Vice President Kamala Harris has clinched the Democratic Party's nomination for president, according to CNN's latest delegate estimates. Her campaign has been fueled by extensive support from key Democratic factions, eager to see her take on former President Donald Trump.

Harris has secured more than the 1,976 pledged delegates needed to win the nomination on the first ballot, as reported by CNN. This surge in support came from state delegations' endorsements on Monday, which, although non-binding, indicate significant unity behind Harris following President Joe Biden's exit from the race.

According to CNN's count, based on public endorsements by delegates and state delegations, Harris's nomination will be confirmed by August 7. Over 300 former staffers have also endorsed her candidacy, adding to her momentum. Rachel Palermo, a former associate counsel for Harris, spearheaded this endorsement effort. As of Monday, more than 300 former staffers from various roles have signed the letter, showing high enthusiasm for Harris's campaign.

State delegations across the nation have rallied behind Harris, providing crucial support ahead of the Democratic National Convention set for August 19-22 in Chicago. California's Democratic delegation unanimously endorsed Harris, highlighting her deep roots in her home state. New York's delegates, along with others from Louisiana, Maryland, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, and more, have thrown their weight behind Harris, emphasizing her leadership and preparedness for the presidency.

The Democratic National Convention is expected to be a pivotal event where Harris will be formally endorsed as the party's nominee, strengthening her position ahead of the general election. With President Biden confirming he will complete his term and Harris aiming to make history as the first Black woman and Asian American to lead a major party's presidential ticket, her campaign has raised a record-breaking USD 81 million within the first 24 hours following Biden's departure from the race.
