Qutub Minar was illuminated with the colors of Colombia's national flag to celebrate the South American country's Independence Day on Saturday. The Colombian Embassy in India thanked India's Ministry of Culture and the Archaeological Survey of India for this significant gesture.

In a social media post, the Embassy noted, "The emblematic #QutubMinar, a UNESCO Heritage Site in New Delhi, was lit up with the colors of the Colombian flag and the green of our biodiversity. We extend our special gratitude to @MinOfCultureGoI and @ASIGoI for this heartfelt honor." The event marked Colombia's 214th Independence Day, with Union Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita as the chief guest.

Highlighting the significance of the occasion, the Embassy further stated, "It was an honor to have Minister of State H.E. @PmargheritaBJP as Chief Guest at the celebration of Colombia's 214th Independence Day in New Delhi. We aim to continue fostering long-standing relations and cooperation between our countries." Another post mentioned the celebration featuring cultural heritage, music, and gastronomy, expressing gratitude to the Colombian community in India and allies for their support.

The Embassy also expressed thanks to its Indian partners and friends for celebrating this important milestone. On the same day, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar extended his wishes to Colombian counterpart Luis Gilberto Murillo and the people of Colombia via social media, signifying the warm bilateral relations enjoyed by both nations.

Minister Jaishankar tweeted, "Warm greetings to FM @LuisGMurillo and the Government and people of Colombia on their Independence Day." Notably, India and Colombia share friendly and cordial bilateral relations, which have strengthened and diversified over the years across political, commercial, and cultural sectors. In 2019, the two nations celebrated 60 years of diplomatic ties.
