In the wake of a tragic drone explosion that claimed the life of one individual and left ten others injured, Tel Aviv's mayor, Ron Huldai, announced an escalation to a higher state of alert. The explosion caused widespread panic as it occurred near the US Consulate, reported the Times of Israel.
Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) have confirmed that a drone was responsible for the explosion in Tel Aviv. The blast, which took place on Friday morning, led to a rapid response from security forces and medical teams. According to local reports, the drone infiltrated Israeli airspace undetected.
An official IDF statement indicated that the drone incident is under thorough investigation. Measures are being taken to prevent future occurrences, including increased patrols by the Israeli Air Force. The Magen David Adom ambulance service reported one fatality and eight hospitalized injuries, with a mix of shrapnel wounds and anxiety-related conditions.
Sources from Saudi-based Al Arabiya news suggested that the Houthi terror group launched a ballistic missile and four drones towards Israel, with US forces intercepting three of the drones. This incident follows the IDF's recent elimination of key terrorist figures, including leaders of the Radwan Force and Hamas operatives.
The operation also saw the death of Muhammed Abu Jattab, a Hamas sniper commander responsible for numerous fatal attacks, and Ismael Shakshak, a terrorist who infiltrated Israeli territory. The IDF emphasizes its ongoing commitment to dismantling terrorist infrastructure.
