Usha Chilukuri Vance, the wife of JD Vance, whom former President Donald Trump announced as his running mate for the upcoming US presidential elections on Monday, offers a distinguished career background and a strong association with Indian culture and values. Vance, a skilled litigator, is the daughter of Indian immigrants and boasts an impressive academic record, holding a bachelor's degree in History from Yale University and a Master of Philosophy degree from the University of Cambridge, as reported by the New York Times.

Born Usha Chilukuri, she has built a notable career in the legal profession, having clerked for Supreme Court Justices John Roberts and Brett Kavanaugh before Kavanaugh's nomination to the Court. Raised in a suburb of San Diego, California, with a strong focus on education and perseverance, Usha's academic accomplishments include leadership roles at Yale's law journals, according to Munger, Tolles & Olson law firm.

Following her tenure at Yale, Usha pursued further studies as a Gates fellow at Cambridge, engaging with various political groups and registering as a Democrat in 2014. She met JD Vance at Yale Law School, and the couple married in Kentucky in 2014 with a Hindu ceremony. They have three children together. Usha Vance has played a crucial, albeit behind-the-scenes role, in her husband's achievements, including his best-selling memoir Hillbilly Elegy, which was later adapted into a film by Ron Howard.

As the US presidential elections approach, Donald Trump confirmed JD Vance's vice-presidential candidacy on social media. AI Mason, a US-based real estate advisor and entrepreneur, praised Usha Vance's accomplishments and her potential to foster strong US-India relations. Usha also shared insights into JD Vance's work ethic and creativity during an earlier interview with Fox & Friends.

Trump's campaign highlights a shift toward promoting unity, focusing on resilience in adversity as he prepares for a rematch against President Biden in the 2024 elections.
