At least 32 children from Angola’s southern Cunene province, who are suffering from hydrocephaly, infant cerebral paralysis and transitory colostomy, will be evacuated to Germany for specialized treatments in May.

This information was released on April 9 to ANGOP by the head of the Child Protection Section of the National Children's Institute (INAC) in Cunene, Macuntima Samuel, referring to being children underprivileged and subjected to a previous medical examination in the pediatric hospital of Ondjiva.

He said that this process of transferring these children to Germany was a result of an agreement between the NGOs Kimbo Liombembwa and its German counterpart Friedensdorf International, whose partnership dates back to 2001.

Since 2010, 140 children with hydrocephaly and other diseases in the province of Cunene have been sent to Germany, where they benefited from treatment.

Hydrocephalus is a disorder characterized by an increase in the amount of cerebrospinal fluid inside the cranial cavity. Cerebral paralysis is a set of permanent disorders that affect movement and posture.
