Lilavati Foundation announced signing a memorandum of understanding with the Assam government to establish a super-speciality hospital in Guwahati, earmarked with a Rs 300-350 crore investment. The facility will extend healthcare to the northeast region and neighboring countries, including Bangladesh and Bhutan.
According to Prashant Mehta, the foundation's founder and chairperson, the 250 to 300-bed hospital will focus on critical specialties like oncology and cardiology. The Assam government has provided three acres of land for the project under a long-term lease, and funds will be raised through a combination of debt, equity, and donations.
The foundation plans to expand its healthcare footprint across India. It is in discussions with states such as Goa, Delhi, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Karnataka to open similar multi-speciality hospitals. Mehta highlighted that these efforts will culminate in around 3,000 hospital beds across metro cities within five years.
