The Madhya Pradesh government has announced plans to tighten the enforcement of food safety standards, following concerns raised in the state assembly over the growing consumption of junk food by children.
During Question Hour, MLA Abhilash Pandey highlighted the alarming rise in fast food consumption and its link to health issues, inquiring about actions taken by the government. Responding, Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla emphasized the need for strict enforcement of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) guidelines.
Additionally, Assembly Affairs Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya pointed out recent meetings with doctors linking junk food to heart attacks in children, reinforcing the urgency for regulatory measures.
