Sankara Eye Foundation to Invest Rs 110 Crore in Patna Hospital

On Monday, the Sankara Eye Foundation India announced a Rs 110 crore investment to build a super specialty eye hospital in Patna. The facility will span 1.60 acres in Kankarbagh and operate on a unique cross-subsidization model.
This model will see 25% of paying patients financially supporting the free surgeries of 75% of beneficiaries. The hospital is expected to perform 30,000 free eye surgeries annually, extending its services beyond Patna to other districts in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and nearby states. The facility is anticipated to be operational by mid-2026.
SEFI Founder and Managing Trustee, RV Ramani, stated that the strategic location in Patna aims to provide world-class ophthalmic care to underserved regions. The Patna unit will mark SEFI's 15th hospital, with its network currently spanning 14 facilities across 10 states.
