In a recent session of the Rajya Sabha, the Indian government acknowledged discrepancies in the state-run naturopathy education system. Variations in syllabi and course durations across states were highlighted, with some longer courses in certain states conferring the title of 'doctor' unlike shorter ones.
Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare, Prataprao Ganpatrao Jadhav, addressed these concerns, emphasizing the need for uniformity in rules, regulations, and registration of naturopathy courses. The ministry plans to reform the system to ensure consistency.
Jadhav also discussed the shortage of Ayush medicines in rural locales, prompting a dependence on allopathic substitutes. Collaborations with 24 countries and research councils aim to bolster Ayush medicine's role both domestically and internationally, supporting the mission of 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047.
