Infant in Ahmedabad Tests Positive for Human Metapneumovirus

An infant from Dungarpur, Rajasthan, is receiving treatment in an Ahmedabad hospital after testing positive for Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV), officials revealed on Monday.
The child was hospitalized on December 24 with respiratory issues and was diagnosed with HMPV on December 26, said Bhavin Solanki, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation's medical officer.
While the infection is not new to India, the case emerged amid vigilance following similar reports from Karnataka. The health ministry is monitoring the situation closely with no significant rise in related illnesses reported.
