Arvind Kejriwal, leader of the Aam Aadmi Party, voiced concerns on Monday about the spread of the Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) and called on the Centre to act promptly to avert a potential health emergency.
The warning came after the Union health ministry confirmed that the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) detected two cases of HMPV in Karnataka as part of routine checks for respiratory pathogens.
Following a health advisory issued in Delhi, health services emphasized the need for isolation protocols and monitoring, with the ministry asserting that no unusual rise in respiratory illnesses has been observed so far.
