In a surprising turn of events, France, which recently announced its liberation from bird flu, has confirmed fresh outbreaks in two poultry farms. These developments were reported by the country's agriculture ministry, bringing an abrupt end to the short-lived virus-free status announced on December 15.

The highly pathogenic avian influenza, commonly referred to as bird flu, has made its seasonal return across Europe. The virus' impact in the region has been moderate compared to the United States, where it has caused significant economic strain by driving up egg prices and crossing over to cattle and human populations.

French authorities detailed in their report to the World Organisation for Animal Health that outbreaks have affected farms in Normandy. The new infections resulted in the culling of entire flocks as a precautionary measure, underscoring the persistent threat migrating birds pose to health stability in the region.
