Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has called on the city's AAP government to increase the stipend for ASHA workers and ensure the swift release of pending salaries for Anganwadi supervisors. His intervention follows a meeting with disgruntled workers who voiced their concerns.

The ASHA workers, who are non-medical health facilitators under the National Health Mission, currently receive a monthly stipend of Rs 3,000. Saxena recommended this be increased to Rs 9,000, highlighting that the last increment occurred in 2018 and suggesting revisions should happen every three years.

Additionally, the governor emphasized the need to resolve the issue of unpaid salaries for Anganwadi supervisors, who have been awaiting payment for seven months. He noted these matters fall under the purview of the city government.
