In a significant move to enhance its healthcare workforce, Delhi has approved the recruitment of 701 nurses and 762 paramedical staff, according to an announcement from the Raj Niwas on Monday.

This initiative aims to mitigate the strain on existing medical staff and improve the city's healthcare infrastructure by allowing hospitals to recruit essential personnel under relaxed rules through public sector undertakings.

The decision comes in response to the Dr S K Sarin Committee's recommendations, prompted by the Delhi High Court's concerns over inadequate healthcare resources. The court had directed the government to prepare a report on plans to address critical shortages in hospital beds and medical staff, emphasizing the necessity of significant investments into government hospitals.
