The Himachal Pradesh government is set to overhaul its healthcare landscape by upgrading health institutes in each of the state's 68 assembly constituencies. Announced by Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, this initiative involves a substantial allocation of Rs 1 crore per institute to turn them into model health facilities.

In addition to this, Sukhu launched a new mobile clinic service initiated by Dharamshala-based Tong-Len Charitable Trust. This service, equipped with state-of-the-art medical testing facilities, aims to reach 20,000 citizens by providing free medical checks directly at their doorstep and plans to incorporate tele-medicine services soon.

Moreover, the government is enhancing emergency medicine departments in colleges and establishing advanced cancer institutes. In a notable move, free medicines and treatments for cancer patients will be available at all government hospitals, supported by the inclusion of 42 cancer medicines in the essential medicine list.
