Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially inaugurated a ground-breaking Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Ayurveda, dedicated to diabetes and metabolic disorders, through a digital event on Tuesday. The CoE is hosted at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and is supported by the Ministry of Ayush. This launch coincides with the 9th National Ayurveda Day, themed "Ayurveda Innovations for Global Health."

Led by Dr Navakanta Bhat and Dr Sona Rajakumari, the facility aims to explore alternative therapies by integrating ancient Ayurvedic wisdom with modern medical research. Dr Sulochana Bhat of the Central Ayurveda Research Institute (CARI) emphasized the potential of the CoE to reshape Ayurvedic diabetes care, focusing on lifestyle adjustments and natural remedies.

The Centre plans to collaborate with notable institutions to merge knowledge and promote clinical practices that demonstrate Ayurvedic efficacy, potentially improving diabetes management worldwide. Through this integration, the CoE seeks to enhance the quality of life for millions, marking a new era in integrative medicine.
