Pakistan Fights Back: Nationwide Efforts to Eradicate Polio
In 2023, Pakistan reported 39 polio cases, recently detecting two in Sindh province. While the virus persists, a national vaccination campaign aims to immunize 45 million children by October end. This strategy forms part of efforts to eradicate polio by June 2025.

Pakistan has recorded 39 polio cases so far this year, with the latest two identified in the Sindh province, according to local authorities.
These newest cases, one involving a girl and the other a boy, were confirmed in the districts of Sanghar and Mirpurkhas, as per a report by the Dawn newspaper.
Despite a rise in cases, Prime Minister's Focal Person for Polio Eradication, Ayesha Raza Farooq, reiterated the country's commitment to combatting the disease, highlighting a new nationwide vaccination drive starting October 28 aimed at immunizing over 45 million children under five years old.
