Rwanda faces a mounting health crisis as Marburg hemorrhagic fever claims 11 lives, health authorities report. The outbreak, first identified among patients in medical facilities, now numbers 36 confirmed cases, with 25 individuals in isolation.

The Rwandan government declared the outbreak on September 27, followed by six deaths shortly after, leaving the infection source unclear. As fears of contagion grow, isolation of patients and their contacts remains critical.

With Rwanda's capital, Kigali, posing an international risk due to its airport and transport links, global concern rises. Two people in Germany were isolated after exposure in Rwanda, though tests returned negative, highlighting the disease's far-reaching implications.
