The West Bengal health department is under scrutiny following numerous complaints from students alleging a 'threat culture' and examination system irregularities at government hospitals and medical colleges, according to a senior official reporting on Thursday.
These grievances were escalated to the State-Level Grievance Redressal Committee, formed by the state government after a protest by junior doctors, who are engaged in a 'total cease work'.
The complaints, originating from six out of the 25 state-run medical institutions, were sent directly to the health secretary and department HQ, with some actions already taken. Key demands include vacancy fillings, digital bed monitoring, and increased security.
