Authorities have registered an FIR against the management of a private school near Thane city, Maharashtra, following a suspected food poisoning incident that left 45 children ill. The children, aged between 8 to 11 years, complained of giddiness, nausea, headache, and abdominal pain after consuming a mid-day meal at the school.
The initial wave saw 38 students admitted to a civic hospital in Kalwa town, with seven more being hospitalised later in the night. Following parents' complaints, Kalwa police filed an FIR against the school's management and food supplier under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita section 125 and FDA regulations. Currently, no arrests have been made as the investigation continues.
Medical officials are closely monitoring the affected children. Dr. Aniruddha Malgaonkar, the hospital's medical in-charge, reported that 37 children are in stable condition and will be discharged after 24-hour observation. However, eight children still exhibit symptoms of fever and vomiting and require further monitoring.
