The tragic event occurred around 11 am within the New Pump House area, under the jurisdiction of Babina Police Station. Witnesses reportedly saw the distressed mother emerge from her house clutching a blood-stained knife, prompting them to alert the authorities.

Jhansi's Senior Superintendent of Police, Sudha Singh, confirmed the toddler's death and disclosed that the mother had been mentally unwell since her husband's passing two years ago. An investigation is underway to determine the circumstances of the incident. The mother, also injured, is currently receiving medical care. Legal proceedings are in progress, although no formal complaints have been filed yet.
