Merck Foundation, in collaboration with African First Ladies and Ministries of Health, has awarded 2080 medical scholarships to doctors from 52 countries in underserved medical specialties. This initiative aims to build healthcare capacity and improve access to quality and equitable care in Africa, Asia, and Latin America.
The foundation also launched animated films 'Mark's Pressure' and 'Sugar Free Jude,' adapted from children's storybooks, to raise awareness about hypertension and diabetes among children and youth. The films promote a healthy lifestyle by advocating reduced sugar and salt intake, regular exercise, and not smoking.
Additionally, Merck Foundation annually launches awards for media, filmmakers, fashion designers, and musicians to promote healthy living and raise awareness about diabetes and hypertension. These efforts are part of their ongoing commitment to transforming patient care in underserved and vulnerable populations.
