The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has announced the formation of a dedicated group to propose stress management measures following the recent death of a chartered accountant, allegedly due to work pressure.
In addition to developing peer support networks, the ICAI will establish a counselling help desk to address members' concerns regarding stress and work-life balance. Chartered accountant Anna Sebastian Perayil's tragic death has intensified the need for such actions.
The ICAI also plans to introduce stress management programs through collaborations with health institutions and will work with industry partners to encourage flexible work models. President Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal has called for balanced work policies to mitigate the adverse effects of high-pressure environments on professionals' health and efficiency.
