ICMR Honored with 2024 UN Task Force Award for NCDs and Mental Health Achievements

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has received the 2024 UN Inter-Agency Task Force Award for its outstanding achievements in advancing multi-sectoral action on the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and mental health. Union Health Minister J P Nadda highlighted the organization's innovative work and commitment to sustainable solutions.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has been honored with the 2024 UN Inter-Agency Task Force Award, recognizing its significant progress in advancing multi-sectoral action on preventing and controlling non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and mental health issues, Union Health Minister J P Nadda announced on Wednesday.

The ICMR's initiatives, such as establishing national centers for Assistive Health Technology, promoting sustainable assistive products, and conducting the world's largest Assistive Technology (AT) survey, are making a lasting impact, Nadda emphasized.

'Delighted to share that ICMR has been honored with the prestigious 2024 @UN Inter-Agency Task Force Award for outstanding achievements in advancing multisectoral action on the prevention and control of NCDs, mental health, and the broader NCD-related SDGs,' Nadda tweeted. This recognition underscores ICMR's commitment to innovative and accessible solutions to enhance life quality for those affected by NCDs and mental health challenges across India, he added.
