The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Monday announced a major campaign against vector-borne diseases, following a surge in dengue, malaria, and chikungunya cases. Officials reported that over 2.59 crore homes were inspected, with mosquito breeding sites found and destroyed in 1,56,932 of them.

Delhi recently witnessed its first dengue-related death this year, prompting the civic body to intensify its preventive measures. Over 4.20 lakh households have undergone insecticide spraying and fogging to curb the spread of these diseases through adult mosquitoes, according to an official statement.

MCD officials stress the importance of public cooperation, urging residents to eliminate stagnant water. Coordinated efforts include special fogging operations, biological control measures, and legal actions against repeat offenders, all supervised by major stakeholders including the DDA, DJB, and Delhi Police.
