LNJP Hospital's Mpox Patient Showing Steady Recovery

The mpox patient at LNJP Hospital is steadily recovering, according to Medical Director Suresh Kumar. The Union Home Ministry confirmed the case as isolated, with the patient isolated and stable. The LNJP Hospital and other facilities are equipped for treatment, and public health measures ensure containment without widespread risk.

The mpox patient undergoing treatment at LNJP Hospital is showing signs of recovery, according to the hospital's Medical Director, Suresh Kumar.

'Mpox is a DNA virus, and its rashes typically appear as maculopapular lesions on the palms and soles. These can develop into ulcerated rashes and large skin lesions,' Kumar explained.

'The patient at LNJP is recovering well, so there is no need for public concern,' he added. The Union Home Ministry confirmed the mpox case involving a young male who recently returned from a country experiencing mpox transmission. Isolated at a tertiary care facility, the patient remains clinically stable without systemic illness or comorbidities.

Although the ministry stated it was an isolated case, it emphasized that it is not part of the current public health emergency by WHO, which pertains to clade 1 of Mpox. WHO previously declared mpox a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) due to its spread in Africa.

The 26-year-old patient from Haryana's Hisar was admitted to LNJP Hospital on September 7. The case aligns with risk assessments and follows established protocols, with active public health measures including contact tracing and monitoring to ensure containment. LNJP has 20 isolation rooms for patients, while GTB Hospital and Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital are on standby with additional facilities.
