The National Medical Commission (NMC) has sanctioned an increase in MBBS seats to 200 at the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for the 2024-25 academic year, according to state Health Minister Vishwajit Rane.
Originally approved for 150 MBBS seats, GMCH stands as the largest government hospital in Goa. Rane described the seat increase to 200 as a significant achievement in the institution's aim to offer superior medical education and healthcare services.
'For the academic year 2024-2025, we have received the Letter of Permission from the National Medical Commission, approving an increase in our MBBS seats to 200,' he stated. This development enables the state-run institution to allow more students to fulfill their aspirations of becoming skilled medical professionals. In addition, approval has been granted to increase seats in several postgraduate MD/MS courses, reflecting the government's dedication to medical excellence amidst rising healthcare demands.
