Junior doctors in West Bengal have reached out to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee via email, requesting an urgent meeting to address the ongoing crisis stemming from the alleged rape and murder of a colleague at a state-run hospital last month.
The medics stated they are flexible regarding the timing and location of the meeting, with the sole condition that the entire discussion be streamed live. This demand for transparency underscores their frustration with the current administration.
The protesting doctors, demanding the removal of key health officials and enhanced safety measures for female health professionals, have defied a Supreme Court directive to resume duties. The CBI continues to investigate the tragic incident, which saw a civic volunteer arrested shortly after the body of the postgraduate trainee was found.
