A recent study indicates that a combination of 'Siddha' drugs can significantly reduce anaemia among adolescent girls.

The study, conducted under the Public Health Initiative and aimed at mainstreaming 'Siddha' drugs for combating anaemia, was published in the Indian Journal of Traditional Knowledge.

The Union Ayush ministry stated that researchers from several Siddha institutions in Tamil Nadu participated in the study. The study involved 2,648 girls, with 2,300 completing a standard 45-day programme of 'Siddha' drug treatment known as ABMN.

The results showed a marked improvement in haemoglobin levels and other clinical indicators of anaemia, such as fatigue and headaches. The study's findings suggest that 'Siddha' medication can be a cost-effective and accessible treatment for anaemia, especially in public health settings.
