In a recent assembly session, Himachal Pradesh's Chief Minister, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, disclosed that payments totaling Rs 355 crore under the Himcare cashless health insurance scheme are pending. This includes over Rs 127 crore owed to private hospitals.

Addressing BJP MLAs' inquiries, Sukhu noted that private hospitals have received larger payments and that a Cabinet Sub-committee is investigating complaints of irregularities. Under the Himcare scheme, families are entitled to up to Rs 5 lakh annually for treatment in government and empanelled hospitals.

The government is also reviewing the Sahara scheme, which provides Rs 3,000 monthly to patients with specific diseases. Budget allocations have been significantly exceeded, prompting initiatives to strengthen government hospitals. Sukhu emphasized ongoing recruitment and financial support for key medical institutions while ensuring the Health schemes operate efficiently.
