In a significant move to combat tobacco addiction, AIIMS-Delhi will initiate a weekly Tobacco Cessation Clinic starting Tuesday. The clinic will operate at the New Rajkumari Amrit Kaur OPD building every Tuesday, offering a lifeline to those grappling with tobacco dependence.

A collaborative effort by the National Drug Dependence Treatment Centre (NDDTC) and the Department of Pulmonary, Critical, and Sleep Medicine, the clinic will provide comprehensive cessation services including pharmacotherapy, psychosocial interventions, and relapse prevention strategies. The initiative aligns with the 'Tobacco-Free AIIMS' program and WHO's Framework Convention on Tobacco Control.

According to Dr. M Srinivas, Director of AIIMS-Delhi, the clinic will be open in rooms 519 and 526 every Tuesday morning, starting from September 10. Registration starts at 8:30 am on the ground floor of the A-Wing, and both walk-ins and referrals are welcome. Healthcare providers are encouraged to motivate patients to utilize this resource to combat their addiction.
