In a letter issued on Monday, Union Health Secretary Apurva Chandra emphasized that India has not reported any new mpox cases in the current outbreak. He urged authorities to prevent unnecessary panic and highlighted the importance of being alert and prepared.
Chandra advised states and territories to rigorously review public health preparedness, particularly in healthcare facilities, and ensure the availability of necessary logistics and trained personnel. He also stressed the need for heightened surveillance, community awareness, and timely reporting to mitigate the spread of mpox.
