India dispatched almost 2,300 kg of medical supplies, inclusive of critical antibiotics, to Chad following a catastrophic fire at a military ammunition depot in the nation's capital, N'Djamena. The explosion and subsequent blasts claimed nine lives and left 46 injured.

The consignment, aimed to aid Chad in dealing with the aftermath, departed from Delhi as part of India's humanitarian assistance program. The fire triggered a series of blasts that wreaked havoc in the Goudji area.

External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal announced on X that India's efforts reflect its role as a global partner in times of crisis, underlining the mission labeled 'Extending Humanitarian Assistance to Chad: India - Vishwabandhu, a friend to the world!'
