An attendant at Maharaja Yeshwantrao Hospital (MYH) in Indore, accused of misbehaving with a 25-year-old female junior doctor while intoxicated, has issued a written apology, according to an official statement on Wednesday.

The incident occurred late Saturday-Sunday (August 31-September 1) at one of Madhya Pradesh's largest government hospitals. The MYH is connected to the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College (MGMMC) in Indore. Following the episode, the hospital formed a four-member committee to investigate.

MGMMC Dean Dr. Sanjay Dixit revealed that upon receiving the apology, the junior doctor informed the inquiry committee of her decision not to seek further action. Enhanced security steps are being introduced, including sirens, panic buttons, and breath analysers for security staff to check for alcohol consumption. The Junior Doctors Association (JDA) had called for an FIR and tighter security following the incident, especially after last month's tragic events at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College.
