Police have seized expired food items, cosmetics, and other products worth more than Rs 1.25 crore during a raid in Bhiwandi district, an official said on Tuesday.

The products, past their sell-by date, posed a significant health risk to consumers. The raid was conducted on Monday at a warehouse in Sagar complex, Narpoli.

Two employees at a private firm were allegedly caught replacing expiry date stickers on goods that were supposed to be destroyed. The total value of the seized material was Rs 1,25,86,026. An FIR was registered against them under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including sections for cheating and forgery. No arrests have been made yet.
